As the Manager, Retail Programs & Field Execution at Staples US Retail, you will own the end‑to‑end execution of high‑impact retail programs that support store operations, product and service launches, and field adoption at scale. This role is focused on turning strategy into field‑ready solutions by designing clear roadmaps, leading pilots, and building rollout and training plans that make new initiatives easy for store associates to adopt, understand, and execute confidently in real‑world environments.
This is not a day‑to‑day people‑management role. Instead, in this role, you will act as the Project Manager for enterprise-wide retail programs, owning end‑to‑end planning, execution, and rollout. You will partner cross‑functionally to ensure new products, services, and operational initiatives are launched with clarity, confidence, and consistency at the store level and with field leadership.
The role is designed for a strong Program and Project leader who is eager to grow into broader people and operational leadership over time, with a clear path to developing into a leader within National Retail Operations
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the end‑to‑end ownership of retail operations programs, from early concept and hypothesis testing through pilot, field rollout, and post‑launch optimization
- Own multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritizing work streams and timelines in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Translate strategic initiatives into clear, executable roadmaps, playbooks, and rollout plans that enable store teams to succeed
- Partner closely with Selling & Engagement, Learning & Development, Communications, Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations to ensure programs are easy to learn, easy to train, and easy to execute
- Develop training approaches and materials that ensure store associates understand new products, services, and programs and can confidently explain and sell them to customers
- Conduct field visits and store pilots to validate assumptions, gather feedback, and refine execution before scaling
- Identify friction points in store execution and design scalable solutions that drive consistency, productivity, and sales performance
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for programs, confidently pushing back, aligning stakeholders, and driving decisions when priorities compete
- Support and enable programs spanning multiple areas of the business, including technology services, iPostal, recycling programs, and future service offerings
- Leverage performance data, store feedback, and adoption metrics to iterate and continuously improve programs post‑launch
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in program management, retail operations, services, or cross‑functional project leadership
- Proven ability to own initiatives from start to finish — from defining scope through execution and measurement
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
- Confident, extroverted communicator capable of influencing without authority and engaging stakeholders at all levels
- Detail‑oriented, action‑oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, change‑driven environment
- Demonstrated experience pushing back constructively, aligning teams, and driving decisions forward
Preferred Qualifications:
- Retail field experience or strong exposure to frontline operations (preferred, not required)
- Experience partnering with Learning & Development, Sales Enablement, or Field Training teams
- Background in consumer technology, tech services, or service‑based retail models
- Experience supporting or launching store‑level product or service rollouts at scale
