This team is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing the endpoint technologies and infrastructure solutions that keep store operations running smoothly. You'll collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, store operations, and business stakeholders while contributing to projects that enhance reliability, security, and the overall retail experience. 

Role Summary:

The Technical Engineer II - Retail Infrastructure supports the engineering, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of technology platforms used across Staples retail locations. In this role, you will work with endpoint technologies, operating systems, application deployment solutions, and infrastructure components that enable reliable business operations. You'll troubleshoot technical issues, contribute to technology initiatives, support operational excellence, and help implement solutions that improve system performance, security, and user experience. 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support the deployment, administration, maintenance, and optimization of retail endpoint technologies and infrastructure solutions.
  • Configure, package, test, deploy, and troubleshoot applications using enterprise endpoint management platforms.
  • Maintain Windows operating system images, device configurations, group policies, and security settings.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, application, and network connectivity issues.
  • Participate in evaluating, testing, and implementing new technologies, hardware, and software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
  • Support automation and scripting initiatives that improve efficiency and system administration processes.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, store operations, vendors, and business partners on key projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend solutions that improve reliability, security, and operational effectiveness.

What's Needed - Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise endpoint technologies, desktop systems, infrastructure, or IT operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems, endpoint devices, software applications, and hardware components.
  • Working knowledge of endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, Intune, HCL BigFix, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, operating system administration, and application deployment concepts.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or other scripting languages used for automation and administration.
  • Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, and IP addressing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze problems effectively, and communicate technical information clearly. 

What's Needed - Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with application packaging technologies such as MSI, MSIX, App-V, or similar deployment tools.
  • Experience supporting retail technology environments, POS systems, kiosks, peripherals, or store infrastructure.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solutions.
  • Experience developing automation solutions using PowerShell or other scripting tools.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, ITIL, or related credentials.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security solutions, cybersecurity best practices, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure implementations, system upgrades, or technology modernization projects.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
